TOUR NOW AVAILABLE!

Dear Film/Video Programmer,

I am writing to announce the touring season of the 1996 UFVA
Student Film & Video Festival. Now in our fourth year, the UFVA Student
Film & Video Festival is the world's largest student festival, both in
entries and audience, and the only one that tours. For 4 years we've
selected and toured the best of student work worldwide, with an eye
towards off-beat, cutting-edge film and video.

This year the festival received 660 entries from over 20 countries,
representing 200 film schools. 34 works were selected for the
international tour; prize winning films were selected by our
distinguished panel of judges, which included Tom Kalin (SWOON; Producer
of I SHOT ANDY WARHOL, Bill Plympton (PLYMPTOONS, THE TUNE), Christine
Choy (WHO KILLED VINCENT CHIN?), Jill Godmilow (WAITING FOR THE MOON, FAR
FROM POLAND), Bill Littlejohn (animator of BULLWINKLE SHOW, WATERSHIP
DOWN, CHARLIE BROWN SPECIALS), Robert Hawk (jurist and curator for the
MUSEUM OF MODERN ART, the SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL, and others), Les Blank
(BURDEN OF DREAMS, WERNER HERZOG EATS HIS SHOE), and Craig Baldwin
(SONIC OUTLAWS, TRIBULATION 99).

The tour includes work from the Konrad Wolf School (Germany), NYU,
University of Tel-Aviv, UT Austin, USC, UCLA, San Francisco State, UC
Santa Barbara, Stanford, University of the Arts, Ateliers Varan (France),
Victorian College of the Arts (Australia), University of Auckland (New
Zealand), University of Ottowa (Canada), AFI, Ringling School of Art &
Design, Rutgers U, School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Wayne State
University, Loyola Marymount University, Florida State University,
CalArts, University of Colorado, and the Rhode Island School of Design.

Highlights (1st Place Winners):

THE LOST STREET (Narrative), from the Konrad Wolf School in Germany, a
stunning and surreal East Berlin political allegory shot in color 35mm
color.

OLLIE'S ARMY (Documentary) from NYU, featured in articles in THE NATION
and the NEW YORK PRESS, a quirky and compelling look inside the Oliver
North Senate campaign.

GENRE (Animation), from UC Santa Barbara, about an eclectic animator who
pushes his cartoon bunny too far, is also touring in this year's SPIKE &
MIKE's SICK AND TWISTED FESTIVAL OF ANIMATION.

FIRST LOVE SECOND PLANET (Experimental), the new film from David Munro of
SFSU (who screened is last film, BULLETHEAD, at SUNDANCE), is a funny and
sexy, yet poignant view of the 'in coitus' fantasies of an incest
survivor.

The touring package will include 16mm, some 3/4" video, and a few
35mm prints. The cumulative length of the touring group runs over 8
hours, so feature length (or longer) shows can be put together for
venues with format limitations (for example, an 'all-16mm' show or an all
video show). In terms of content, we normally work with venue
programmers to select the best work for their audience. The cost of
renting the festival package is $200 plus shipping. Our touring season
generally runs from September to May of the following year.

Currently scheduled dates for the 96/97 season:

% September 19&24, Neighborhood Film/Video Project, Philadelphia, PA
% September 28, Cinematexas, University of Texas, Austin, TX
% October 3, University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ
% October 10, University of Maryland, Baltimore, MD
% November 6, Rhode Island School of Design, Providence, RI
% November 8, Films From the Margin, Boston, MA

If you'd like to schedule a screening, or get some more information,
please give us a call.

                                        Thanks for your time,

                                        Dave Kluft
