Gloria Monti inquires:
"films that present the female lead through an indexical
representation (obviously beyond the indexical representation of film
itself), or an iconic one, prior to her entrance onscreen".

There's Dil, girlfriend of the Forrest Whittaker character, in a snapshot at
the start of "The Crying Game." Of course, the acceptability of this entry
to the list may depend on how you read "female."

Cheers,
      Bet
