Hi Matthew,
 
the most obvious film I can think of in which the main character is a
misanthropes is a Mike Leigh (?) film called Naked. It came out a few
years ago, is a British film, and the lead character probably hates women
as equally as he seems to hate himself. It was a very disturbing film,
but perfect for what you are looking for.
