Memory is vague on this matter but perhaps THE WORLD, THE FLESH, AND THE
DEVIL (1959) and THE OMEGA MAN (1972) may have relevant scenes. They initially
show single males (Harry Belafonte and Charlton Heston) living in cities after
a disaster. Perhaps THE LAST MAN ON EARTH with Vincent Prince (Italy, 1960's?)
could be another example.
Also George Romero's supermarket mall sequence in DAWN OF THE DEAD has
males on a shopping spree too.
