As a support course for our 2-yr. Communication and Public
Relations major, and as a fine-arts elective option, Champlain
College (a 2-yr., mostly business oriented college with some
bacculaureate programs) is interested in developing an
introductory film course.  If we were to offer only one couse,
what would be the best type of course?  We would like to balance
film theory, film criticism, and the technology of film making.
Is this feasible?  Could some of you who have experience with
this type of course share your syllabi?  suggest texts?  suggest
the number and titles of films shown?  how you have arranged
students' schedules to allow the showing of full-length films?
What type of projection works best?  And could you share any
"insider" tips that would help our fledgling enterprise get off
the ground?
