What do children's media suggest about the child's place in society?
How have children's media evolved over time and through technological advances?
How do media beyond the written word oblige critics to retheorize the child
as *reader* and/or as author?
What effects does the increasing commodification of children's media have
upon children's access to and pleasure in these texts?
 
Papers may address areas including (but not limited to) the following:
Children's film, video, and television
Video games, computer games or educational tools
Sound recordings
Interactive museum displays or child *chat sites* on the World Wide Web
 
I am interested in both theoretical and historical papers, especially those
that make their points through close readings of particular texts. Send
