Sontag once wrote (infamously) that gay men were self-appointed
aristocrats of taste.

At last the truth has come out: Susan Sontag is a gay man! (Or at
least, her semi-phobic version of one.)

Poor Susan. Cinephilia must not exist anymore because she does not
love cinema anymore. Rather than actually asking about what historical
mutations have taken place within cinema, she would prefer to be nostalgic.
A more anti-intellectual pose could hardly be imagined.

Sontag writes to praise cinema--in order to bury it.
