CALL FOR ENTRIES
 
1996 UFVA STUDENT FILM & VIDEO FESTIVAL
 
 DEADLINE: MAY 31, 1996                    Over $70000 in prizes
 
Founded to survey and exhibit the very best in student work worldwide,
the UFVA STUDENT FILM & VIDEO FESTIVAL announces its fourth annual
competition and national tour.
 
Categories & Prizes:
Entries are being accepted in four categories: Animation, Documentary,
Experimental, and Narrative.  First, Second and Third place prizes, as
well as several Finalists & Honorable Mentions,  will be awarded in each
category.  Over $7000 in prizes will be distributed.   All entrants
receive a free copy of the UFVA International Festival Directory for
Students.
 
Judges:
All works will be prescreened by a panel of filmmakers, teachers, and
curators; finalists are sent on to the Finalist Judges. Past juries have
included Susan Seidelman, Allison Anders, Tom Kalin, Christine Vachon,
Allie Light, Christine Choy, Art Clokey, Jill Godmilow, Michael Rubbo &
others.
 
Eligibility:
Works must have been completed no earlier than May 1994, and while the
film/video maker was enrolled in an educational institution
(University/College Undergraduate or Graduate level).
 
Tour:
The festival premieres each year at the conference of the University FIlm
& Video Association, which will be held this year in Orange County,
California, at Chapman University, in early August. Following the
conference, selected works will go on a national tour. Previous tour
sites have included: American Cinemateque, Los Angeles; Neighborhood
Film/Video Project, Philadelphia; University of the Philippines;
Wellington City Gallery, New Zealand; Florida International University,
Miami; University of Arizona; University of North Texas;  Films From the
Margin, Boston; Rhode Island School of Design; Stanford University;
American University; Indianapolis Art Center; University of Memphis;
University of SW Louisiana; Fitchburg State College; SUNY Buffalo; Depauw
University; University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh; Mills College, Oakland.
 
 
DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS: MAY 31, 1995
 
ENTRY FEES: $15.00, $10 for UFVA members.
 
TOUR AVAILABILITY:
The Festival will be available for rental as part of a national tour,
from August '96 to Spring '97.  Please contact us about prices & scheduling.
