Ralph Nader and the anti-smoking crowd -- who succeeded in banning cigarette
advertising from television and object to its depiction in films, resulting
in the smoking "porn" described in a recent Wall Street Journal story -- are
just as much products of American Puritanism as Pat Robertson. It is an
historical phenomenon, not a partisan perspective, and can be seen in our
films and television programs every night.
