Thanks for Pam Wilson's articulated rationale for a list about documentary.
The couple of other responses I received were on the level of "yeah, count
me in."  I'm not sure that the immediate impulse for the query was from
media/critical studies.  I think that here as elsewhere in the domain of
film we're dealing with the distinction between practitioners and theorists.
