******  According to a recent issue of Sight & Sound, Kubrick
personally refused to allow the film to be shown in England because of
a few copycat incidents that occured during the initial release.  I was
a bit surprised that he had such control over the film's distribution
but the article was quite explicit that there had been no showings.  LT
