W/all the discusion of late regarding kubrick's film, here's what a local
LA film critic wrote today 8/18 as it is screening at a revival house tonight
a very bad film -snide,barely competent,and overdrawn
enjoys perennial popularity, partly because of its confused moral position
that appeals to the secret NIETZSCHEANS within us. its a movie leopold and
loeb would have loved, endorsing brutality in the name of nonconformism
the trappings-the rationalizations and spurious arguments are what make it
generally irresponsible, genuinely abhorrent
