In Chicago about a third (roughly) of the tapes available in Chicago were
subtitled in English. Chicago is a huge center of Indian distribution--there
are thousands of families in the midwest who rent or buy the tapes--and the
majority of them did not, apparently, want to be bothered with subtitles.
After numerous complaints (store owners told me) they quit ordering them.
