In "Carrie", 1951 d. William Wyler (based on Dreiser's "Sister Carrie"),
Laurence olivier deserts his first wife, Miriam Hopkins, then does the same
to Jennifer Jones in one movie!
 
Also in "The Moon and Sixpence" d. Albert Lewin, (based on Maugham's novel)
George Sanders leaves his wife and children to paint in Tahiti a la Gauguin.
