Doesn't CATCH-22 end this way? (The book ends with Yossarian leaving, but
I'm not that sure about the film.)
 
THE SEARCHERS ends with John Wayne's character outside the door of the
cabin, unable to enter (not exactly the same thing).
 
Various Chaplin shorts have this sort of ending:  the tramp heading off
down the road.
 
BOUDU SAVED FROM DROWNING has Boudu floating away from his wedding.
