                    ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION(s)
 
 
     The Department of Communication Arts at the University of
Wisconsin-Madison anticipates openings for three positions:
 
1) Tenure-track assistant professor in Video Production to begin Fall 1995.
Persons with broad-based competencies in the theory and practice
of video production are especially encouraged to apply.  High
potential/achievement in creative work and/or scholarship are
essential.  Advanced degree in Communication Arts or related area
required.
 
2)  Tenure-track assistant professor in Communication Studies/Media
 Effects to begin Fall 1995.  Applicants should be prepared to teach and
conduct research in communication theory and/or media effects.
Special interests may include persuasion, mass media effects,
language, small group communication, or organizational
communication.  Ph.D. required.  Strong quantitative
methodological competencies are necessary.
 
 3)   Rhetoric/Composition Theory to begin Fall 1995.
 Tenure-track assistant professor unless qualifications require
 appointment at higher rank.  Applicants should be prepared to
 teach and conduct research in rhetorical or communication theory
 or rhetorical criticism with a strong interest in composition.
 Persons with broad-based competencies in the direction of a basic
 course in public speaking and general communication skills are especially
encouraged to apply.  High potential/achievement in scholarship
essential.  Ph.D. required.   Deadline:  December 1, 1994.
