Pierre: I remember the sequence in Godard's Masculin Feminin, in which
Jean-Pierre Leaud, projection manual in hand, lectures a projectionist
on aspect ratios.

In the recent issue of the New Yorker, the most interesting article I've
read so far is novelist Nicholson Baker's essay on projection. He
includes a few, more obscure allusions that might be useful to you.
