   There is a petition by the CPSR (Computer Professionals for Social Respon-
sibility) that states it's opposition to the proposed Clipper chip, the chip
that would allow the goverment to have access to a "back door" in the infor-
mation superhighway, and allow them to spy on any conversation or information
transmitted through the computer lines.  This isn't protection, this is the
government's surveillance of it's people, no better than tapping the telephone
lines and monitoring your conversation.
    To have your name added to the petition, send your message with the words
"I OPPOSE CLIPPER" (no quotes) to [log in to unmask]  CPSR is a member-
ship based public interest group.  Questions and comments? E-mail: sent it to
[log in to unmask] and they'll get back to you.
