I think know what you're getting at.  I'm thinking of the scene where
the Tramps supervisor is ordering him to get back to work.  The supervisor
is, well, supervising via a large screen monitor.  Live video instead
of rebroadcast video.
 
A sidenote:  I saw Attenborough's _Chaplin_ last night.  Incredible!
