 There are only two things about which I agree with Ernie when it comes to
"PC":
 
1) It is important not to CENSOR or PUNISH anyone for his or her opinions or
for stating those opinions, whatever they may be.
 
2) It is futile to discuss "PC" on screen-l.
 
Since the latter is the case, I am sending Ernie my more substantive responses
on the matter of "PC" in a private note.  I would just like to point out that
Ernie started the "PC" bashing on this list and I am more than happy to drop
the subject if he will refrain from taking potshots at "PC."  Otherwise,
frankly, I don't see why I should ignore what I feel are utterly unfair attacks
on today's academic left which, for all its frequent silliness, is NOT
McCarthyite, nor a "movement" called "PC."
