        at the end of [The Searchers], all of the characters except
        Ethan enter a house and close the door, with Ethan still outside
        symbolically looking off into the desert.
 
I haven't seen it in years, but I remember a striking shot, repeated
one or more times, in which the camera follows Wayne from a dark interior
through a doorway into a dazzlingly bright, spacious desert landscape.
It mirrors that last shot and foreshadows it perfectly. What a film!
