The actors name was Dennis Christopher.  It really wasn't a
    "beach" picture, as we know them (no articfiial music breaks, no
    one yelling "cowabunga", and it had - forgive me - a plot), even
    though it was made by American Interntional!!  In
    fact, it was rather serious in parts and had kind of a sad ending.
