The Association of Moving Image Archivists (AMIA) would like to
announce the creation of AMIA-L, a net discussion list focusing on
topics relating to the preservation of moving images. Utilizing
this electronic forum AMIA members, and others interested in the
preservation of motion picture film, video and other moving image
formats, will be able to communicate on a daily basis. Through
messages posted to AMIA-L, list subscribers will be able to exchange
information relating to all aspects of moving image preservation
and the operation of moving image archives. Appropriate postings
can include, but are not limited to: queries concerning archival
holdings, preservation activitiy, availability of equipment and
services; announcements of job openings, conferences and meetings,
new acquisitions, new publications, etc. Messages such as these,
intended for distribution to the entire list membership, should be
sent to: [log in to unmask]

To subscribe to AMIA-L send the following message to
  [log in to unmask]:

     SUBSCRIBE AMIA-L Your Name

You will then be automatically added to the list and will receive
a message of acknowledgement from the LISTSERV. Shortly after
subscribing to AMIA-L you will receive a "Welcome" message from
the list coordinator. This message will provide further instructions
on the mechanics of the list. It will give tips on how to access
AMIA-L's archive files, and how to check and change the status of
  of your subscription options.
If you have problems subscribing to AMIA-L, or would like more
information, contact the list coordinator, Tom House, Audio-Visual
Archives, University of Kentucky Libraries. He can add you to the
list or give you instructions on subscribing yourself.
