Ah, "The Last Starfighter" a lovely film. It doesn't exactly fit the
bill because it isn't set in the future. It is Utopian, but a somewhat
failed Utopia, the alien civilization bred out aggresion. When they were
attacked, they have to recruit less civilized races to do the actual fighting.
 
Well worth watching.
