Our interpretation of the current copyright laws concerning
off-air taping is this:  almost anything is OK as long as it
is for your own home use.  If you intend to lend your tapes
to friends or to use the tapes in the classroom, that's another
matter.  You're not really permitted to lend your recorded-off-air
tapes to other people.  And there are quite definite regulations
about how long you can keep such tapes and use them in the
classroom.
 
If anyone is interested in the classroom use rules, I can
list them here.
