You may have trouble getting into the Brown library if your university's
computer does noit have automatic IBM3270 emulation.  If the command
TELNET BROWNVM.BROWN.EDU does not work try
TN3270 BROWNVM.BROWN.EDU and see if that gets you in.
 
For most research the California MELVYL system is by far the best in the
country, having the largest base of texts and being just about the most
user friendly.  Try TELNET 31.1.0.11 and then just follow instruction.
Once you learn to use command mode, the MELVUL system really flies.
