The Cinema and Media Studies Department at the University of Washington is now accepting applications for its Graduate Programs in Cinema and Media Studies <https://cinema.washington.edu/graduate-programs>:
• MA in Cinema and Media Studies <https://cinema.washington.edu/ma-cinema-and-media-studies>, a two-year program, fully funded through Teaching Assistantships.
• PhD in Cinema and Media Studies <https://cinema.washington.edu/phd-cinema-and-media-studies>, a five-year program, fully funded through Teaching Assistantships, with additional years of funding available on a competitive basis.

We are particularly interested in supporting new voices and approaches in cinema and media research, including underrepresented perspectives, neglected histories, and underutilized methodologies. Our students <https://cinema.washington.edu/people/graduate-student> have pursued research projects on topics such as French silent-era movie audiences, Chinese reality TV, Hindi cinemas, YouTube tutorials, and the visual culture of science and medicine.
Our faculty <https://cinema.washington.edu/people/faculty> are a distinguished group of interdisciplinary film and media scholars with a wide range of research fields, including: silent cinema, the history of technology, avant-garde cinemas, feminist media, documentary, East Asian visual culture and cinemas, television culture, South Asian visual culture and cinemas, and digital media. The Department of Cinema and Media Studies is currently in the process of hiring a new faculty member with a specialization in Race and Media in the U.S. <https://apply.interfolio.com/78359>, to start in the Autumn of 2021.
The University of Washington offers a variety of resources for the interdisciplinary study of film and media.
