 Visiting Assistant Professor, Media Writing and Production

The Department of Journalism, Advertising, and Media Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee invites applications to fill a Visiting Assistant Professor position in Media Writing and Production. The initial appointment is for one year, beginning August 20, 2018, and may be renewed by the program for up to an additional two years. The department offers an undergraduate major with concentrations in Journalism, Advertising/Public Relations, and Media Studies, and an M.A. program in Media Studies. We are seeking a colleague specializing in writing for journalism and/or advertising/public relations. Areas of additional expertise may include multiplatform storytelling, social media theory and practice, persuasive communication, and/or visual communication, including video production. In addition to teaching undergraduates, this colleague will maintain an active, independent program of high-quality research. Professional media experience preferred.

Candidates must have a minimum of one year of teaching experience and a Ph.D. in media studies, mass communication, or a related area in hand by August 20, 2018.

Applicants should submit a cover letter including a statement of teaching and research interests, current curriculum vitae (CV), sample of research (upload to “Other Document 1” field), and the names and contact information of three professional references which the department may contact for confidential letters of recommendation.
