Dear Colleagues:
Papers are sought for a panel on film and media to be hosted at the
upcoming academic conference, "Iraq: 10 Years After the War." This
conference is being organized by Profs. Tareq Ismael (University of
Calgary), William W. Haddad (University of California-Fullerton), and
Ibrahim Aoude (University of Hawaii) and will be held at the
University of California-Fullerton on 17-19 April 2013. Possible
paper topics include:
- Iraqi television, radio, and/or film
- international documentaries
- Hollywood and Western media (mis)representations
- political cartoons / advertising / public service announcements
- digital culture / military communication / surveillance technology
- media law / censorship
- effects on / relationship to other Middle Eastern film and media
industries and practices
Please e-mail 300-word abstracts along with a short bibliography and
brief biographical statement by November 30, 2012 to

All papers presented at this conference will be included in a
forthcoming special issue of the International Journal of
Contemporary Iraqi Studies.
