Call for Papers
for a book-length collection of essays, to be published in 2012:

The Poetics of Love: Theory and Practice in Film and Television

Introduced by a new essay by Laura Mulvey, this book will address a range of theoretical and practical approaches to understanding the construction, depiction, and reception of “love” in moving-image media. Each article-length chapter will address a unique aspect of the poetics of love (e.g, as narrative structure, as iconographic pattern, as genre constraint, as psychology or sociology of romance, as erotic spectacle, as familial or theological matrix, as formal ontology, as ethical or political construct).

Presenters at the 2010 Film & History conference are encouraged to submit their papers, but submissions outside the conference pool are welcome and will be given equal consideration. All manuscripts submitted should be revised for scholarly peer review. Length: 5000-10,000 words.

Send one manuscript (as a Word-compatible document) to [log in to unmask] and one manuscript by postal service to
