As HBO approaches its 40th anniversary, this panel will approach HBO’s
history in ways that are not limited to the popular Sunday night lineup.
What other programming has helped to shape HBO’s reputation? How has HBO
shaped the cable industry and vice-versa? Possible paper topics might
include:



HBO Documentary Films

HBO Sports

HBO’s children’s programming

HBO and the cable industry

HBO and new media technologies

HBO’s “magazine programming”

HBO and politics

HBO’s shifts in branding strategies

HBO’s “experiments” (K-Street, Carnivale, filmed theater, etc.)

HBO archival material



Please send a 250-word abstract, a five-item bibliography, and a brief
