Please find below details for a tenurable position in Film, Media and Cultural Studies at the University of Newcastle, Australia. Please note that a 'Lecturer' in Australian terms is equivalent to Assistant Professor in US/Canadian terms. The position may be appointed at either Lecturer or Senior lecturer level, and the deadline is the 16th of September.

POSITION TITLE: Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Film, Media and Cultural Studies
ACADEMIC LEVEL: B/C
FACULTY/DIVISION: Education and Arts
SCHOOL/UNIT: School of Humanities and Social Science
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Head of School
ROLE STATEMENT
The successful candidate will have broad teaching interests in the area of film, media and cultural studies, a strong research profile, experience in the primary supervision of Honours and RHD students, and a developing research grant track record.
ROLE DESCRIPTION
• You will be responsible to your supervisor, the Head of the School of Humanities and Social Science.
• In this role you will enhance and extend the research profile of the Discipline, with the aim of attracting
external funding, honours, and research higher degree students.
𐂃 You will be expected to contribute to the development, delivery, and administration of high quality
undergraduate and honours teaching.
𐂃 You will also be expected to undertake RHD supervision.
• At the senior level, you may be required to undertake administration of the Discipline and participate in
the general administration of the School.
SELECTION CRITERIA
𐂃 PhD in film, media and/or cultural studies
𐂃 Demonstrated excellence in teaching popular culture, popular film, and media theory at University level
𐂃 Demonstrated familiarity with web-based teaching
𐂃 ERA ranked research publications in media, popular culture and/or contemporary cinema
𐂃 Demonstrated ability to undertake Research Higher Degree supervision with a preference for candidates
who have RHD completions in film, media and/or cultural studies
𐂃 Evidence of successful grant applications or an ability to secure external research funding

Conditions and Benefits
Academic Level B - $71,832 to $85,302 per annum.
Academic Level C - $87,994 to $101,465 per annum
Contributory superannuation is a benefit of employment plus generous employer contribution of 17%.
