Second Call for Submissions to an Edited Volume on
Women¡¯s Studies in the West (in Mandarin Chinese by
People¡¯s University Press in China)

The book aims to introduce western feminism and
women's movements to scholars and university students
in China. It will be one of the volumes in the series
on "Western Research in the Humanities and Social
Sciences", and will serve as a textbook for upper
level undergraduate and graduate seminars such as
"Women's Studies in the West.¡± It will be an
interdisciplinary volume that covers women/feminist
studies in several different areas such as political
science, anthropology, economics, literature, media,
sociology, history, etc. Given its targeting
readership, it is encouraged that contributors offer
some empirical examples from a Chinese context. Each
chapter should aim to introduce lead figures, core
reading and key debates within the length of 18-20
pages. In addition, one shall aim to analyse the
current dynamics and development without losing sight
of the historicity of the topic.

This is the second call and we are particularly
interested in contributions that address the following
areas:

History of Feminism and women's studies
theory of gender
theory of sexuality/homosexuality
women and education
women and politics
women and religion
women in military
women, art and literature

Potential contributors may submit abstracts of no more
than 300 words by 30 April in Mandarin to the
following editors via email. The deadline for a
completed chapter is 30 September 2008.
