CFP UPDATE. Conference on “The Documentary Tradition”
The November conference on “The Documentary Tradition,”
sponsored by the Film and History League, is fully described on the
Film & History web site: _www.filmandhistory.org_
(http://www.filmandhistory.org/) . (The meeting will
be conducted near the Dallas/Ft.Worth airport, 8-12 November, 2006.)
This notice outlines the general rubrics for the meeting. Here
are the general categories; specific areas are numbered here and can be seen
in detail at the web site (above). Each area, by the way, will have multiple
panels.
This panoply of topics will attract many papers, but humanists
wishing to take the “plunge” into film studies are welcomed. Come for
edification and, if you are not giving a paper, be a “moderating”
influence.
Genres, Styles, and Aesthetics (11 areas)
Classics (3 areas)
Eras and Places (4 areas)
Social Documentaries and Topics (4 areas)
National Traditions (10 areas)
Networks (7 areas)
War (5 areas)
Methodology (1 area)
Many of us got our start at such meetings back in the Dark Ages; beginners
are welcomed!
