Dorothy F. Schmidt Eminent Scholar in the Humanities

Florida Atlantic University (FAU) invites nominations and applications 
for the Dorothy F. Schmidt Eminent Scholar in the Humanities in the 
Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters.

The successful candidate will be a distinguished humanist dedicated to 
working with the Dean and the faculty to enhance the scholarly profile 
of the College, contribute to the undergraduate and graduate 
curriculum, and further develop the College’s role in the University 
and regional communities.  S/he will have an earned doctorate or 
equivalent, and an impressive record of university teaching, 
scholarship and/or creative activity that is broadly-based and 
addresses topics and issues that reach across the humanities 
disciplines.

FAU is a rapidly growing public university on seven campuses, enrolling 
more than 24,000 students. For more detailed information about FAU and

The Dorothy F. Schmidt Eminent Scholar in the Humanities is funded by a 
generous endowment that includes ample funding for a full program of 
professional activities. The general terms of this appointment are 
negotiable, and typically would include tenure at the rank of Professor.

Applications will be reviewed until the position is filled; screening 
of dossiers will begin 15 August 2003. Letters of application should 
respond to the position criteria and be accompanied by a current
