The angel in Weekend is a sort of avenging angel who offers Corrine and
Roland anything that they wish for in exchange for giving him a lift (he
claims to be the offspring of a sexual dalliance between God and Gide, as I
recall). They both ask for such mundane and stupidly selfish materialistic
items (and a weekend with James Bond) that he refuses to grant them
anything, cursing the couple as he departs from them (and de-parts them in
the midst of a herd of sheep).
