Scholar Edward Wagenknecht, who was born in 1900, recalled when working as a projectionist when he was eighteen, a brief film that depicted L. Frank Baum smoking a cigar and laughing. It is not known to be a scene in any of his surviving films, nor does it seem to correspond to any of his lost films, either.

Last I heard, Wagenknecht was still alive, but his health prohibits travel. I also don't believe he has recalled any additional details or clues as to what this might be. Does anyone else?

"In today's world, we're always forced to do what is insisted by others. But why should money determine what we do in life... or what we are... or what we become? Even the rapport of our true relationships?"--Jean-Luc Godard, _Le Mépris_.
