a)

Erich Kaestner's „Das doppelte Lottchen“ has been filmed
surprisingly often in several countries. Several versions
should be available on VHS and/or DVD.

b)

JC Van Damme has made at least three movies where he
plays himself twice (twins/clones)

Replicant

Double Impact
http://akas.imdb.com/Title?0101764

Maximum Risk

c)

The Austin Powers films have Mike Myers in a variety of roles -
he plays the shagadelic spy, the evil nemesis and a few other characters.

d)

The german comedian Otto Waalkes plays himself and his twin
brother in „Otto der Ausserfriesische“
http://akas.imdb.com/Title?0098040

Helge Schneider, another peculiarly german comedian, apparently plays
most of the roles in his trashy secret agent film „00 Schneider“
and his western persiflage „Texas – Doc Snyder“
http://akas.imdb.com/Name?Schneider,+Helge

e)

„Wanted“ has Austrian comedian Alfred Dorfer playing a doctor
who retreats into a fantasy world where he's a Western hero...
most of the characters he meets and/or shoots in the saloon/gunfight
fantasy are the same persons he keeps meeting in real life. E.g.
the „fat evil rich bastard and his whore“ in the western scenes are
the same actors as the „fat evil psychiatrist and his nurse“ in the
asylum.

Available on VHS (PAL) and DVD at www.kabarett.at or www.hoanzl.at
or [log in to unmask] (the film's distributor)

f)

In „Great Dictator“, Charles Chaplin plays both Adenoid Hinkel
(the crazy dictator) and A Jewish Barber
http://akas.imdb.com/Title?0032553

g)

Lots of double roles in Peter Jackson's first film. Well, they
had no money for actors, so.... Still, „Bad Taste“ is a great gore
comedy :-)

I tried to find a way of getting IMDB to list all films with
a dual role, but couldn't get results even in advanced search mode.

Maybe someone at IMDB wouzld be willing to list all films
where the field „character name“ contains a „/“
(This / is the separator that IMDB uses, but which they won't let users
search for)
