TEXAS: REALITIES AND MYTHS

The 25th annual meeting of the Southwest/Texas Popular Culture/
American Culture Associations will mount a number of panels about
the great state of Texas!  Be there, pardners!

Meeting runs from 13-17 February in Albuquerque, New Mexico and
    Tony Hillerman is the invited, guest speaker.

Topics could include:

Hollywood and Texas: From John Wayne to Urban Cowboys
Texas myths/realities
Texas regions and their cultures
Texican Clothes
Rural/Urban Tensions in Texas
Austin as a Mythic Place
Dallas/Fort Worth Contrasts
The Frontier Woman in Texas
The King Ranch and Other Ranches
Texas Academe: Distinctive Images, Distinctive Schools
    (For example, the Aggie Way of Death...Aggie Jokes...)
Vietnamese in Texas
Varieties of Texas Music

Please send your abstract of 150 words to me before 10 December.
