I'm a music history professor at the University of Illinois, specializing

in the works of John Cage.  In the first week of November, I am giving a

presentation on Cage's work with modern dancers for a conference.  One of

these dancers, Marian van Tuyl, created a dance to a Cage work and entitled

her dance, "Horror Dream."  In 1947/48, van Tuyl and Sidney Peterson made a

9-minute film of the same name (same dance/same music), trying to create a

genuine "collaboration" between film and dance.



I'd very much like to show part of this film at this conference.  However,

the Anthology Film Archives doesn't have a copy; the Filmmaker's

Cooperative doesn't have one; Canyon Cinema doesn't have one.  The NY

Public Library - Dance Division does have a copy, but it never leaves the

library.  I will try the Museum of Modern Art tomorrow, but am already

skeptical.



Does anyone with experience in these kinds of rare art films have any

suggestions as to where else I might look?  Please respond to me privately
