Re: the query about "drama."  Aside, of course, from going back to
Aristotle, you might find it interesting to look up some of the key
readings on melodrama.  Important theoreticians like Eric Bentley and
Robert Heilman use drama to distinguish differences from melodrama, in the
process elucidating both very perceptively.
