Lecturer in Film Studies

Applications are invited for the above tenured position (US equivalent
Assistant Professor) in the Department of Theatre and Film Studies.  The
Department actively integrates theory and practice at all levels, therefore
the ideal candidate would demonstrate both a high standard of achievement in
film scholarship and some degree of practical experience in film/video
making and/or the new media.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. degree or equivalent in film studies or a
related area and a thorough working knowledge of film history and
contemporary film theory.  An established record or strong evidence of
potential in: scholarly research; teaching film studies at the university
level; film/video making and/or the new media are also essential.  It is
desirable that candidates have one or more of the following: expertise in
New Zealand, Australian or post-colonial cinemas; professional and/or
academic experience in theatre and other performance arts.

The appointee will collaborate in the development and team-teaching of film
studies courses at all levels, contribute to existing graduate courses and
develop a new course devoted to an area of specialisation, supervise
graduate work in film studies at masters and doctoral levels and participate
as desired in theatre courses.
