Call For Paper
The Journal of Popular Film and Television announce a special SUMMER,2002,
issue -- FANTASTIC VOYAGE: Horror, Fantasy, and Science-Fiction Speculative
Cinema.
We wish to cast a wide net regarding subject matter and critical approaches.
Possibilities include:
Interrogation of contemporary technology and cultural conflict in these
genres.
Archival and historical investigation.
Genderbending and challenges to traditional gendered roles.
Gender 'blending': conflation of these genres with others.
Impact of internet and cyber-reality.
Utopian and dystopian futures.
Imagination of apocalypse, millenial and otherwise.
Theophany and spirituality: these genres as "spilt religion".
National thrusts.
Body Horror.
Due date for submissions 1 September 200l. The date is FIRM!! Papers no
longer than 20 pages, references included, MLA format preferred. Disk,
preferably PC, with 2 hard copies, double spaces. SASE if return desired.
Authors should indicate whether a paper should be considered for a general
JPFT issues,if it cannot be published in the special issue.
